If you aren’t familiar with Pokemon Go, it’s the new app where you leave your house and walk around the real world, catching cute little monsters with your phone. If you aren’t familiar with Charity Miles, it’s the app that let’s you earn money for the charity of your choice, just by walking or running. See where we’re going with this?

A couple of days ago, someone posted a note on my Facebook wall, suggesting that you should turn Charity Miles on while you are out Poke Hunting. I felt stupid for not having thought of it myself. Thankfully, it sounds like much of the world is a lot smarter than I am. I just got an email from the charity app that is thanking the new game for doing a tremendous amount of good in just the short couple of weeks since it has been out.

To give you a concept, Charity miles is able to raise 25 cents for every mile you walk through a series of sponsorships. While just one quarter doesn’t sound like a lot, consider this. In just the last ten days, the size of the app’s community has tripled and it is now the #2 app in the App Store. Think of the potential millions of dollars that can be raised just by people hatching their eggs!

For our members playing Pokémon Go, or for anyone interested, we now have all three Pokémon teams in Charity Miles!! Join the team of your choice, and represent red, blue or yellow…for a cause! Let’s see which team can make the biggest impact!!!

The app has even added new features just to make raising money more attractive to players:
