The US election is a mess and there’s some pretty horrific stuff going down in Brussels today. We need something awesome. I’m not talking about kittens in costumes. That’s Awwwwsome. I’m talking about awesome eagles taking care of the young on a live cam. Now that’s awesome.
The bald eagles in question are currently chilling in their nest in a poplar tree, in Washington DC. The couple, appropriately named ‘Mr. President’ and ‘The First Lady’ are taking care of three hatchlings. This is the first time that a nesting pair of bald eagles have settled in this park since 1947.
This is a wild eagle nest and anything can happen. While we hope that two healthy juvenile eagles will end up fledging from the nest this summer, things like sibling rivalry, predators, and natural disaster can affect this eagle family and may be difficult to watch.
