With his animated adaptation of Castlevania on Netflix, Adi Shankar has created what might be the best video game adaptation ever. Today that adaptation moved from being a stand-alone series to part of a universe that will also include a series based on the popular video game Franchise, Devil May Cry! To make the new series possible, Shankar reportedly, personally acquired the rights to Devil May Cry so that he could assure no Hollywood suits would screw up the project. The new series will be connected to Castlevania (which is currently airing season 2 on Netflix) through what Shankar is calling the “bootleg multiverse.”
There are currently no details on when the new series will drop, what the tone of the show will be, or who will be cast as the series Protagonist, Dante’.
The new series is set for a two-episode premiere, June 4 on Disney+.
