Despicable Me’s Minions To get Their Own Spin-Off Feature Film

The sequel to Despicable Me isn’t set to hit theaters until next summer, but there is already an announcement today from Illumination Entertainment that they plan on extending the franchise with a Spin-off film for the lovable Minion characters that will debut in 2014.

The people behind the Easter film, HOP have already written a draft of the film and Kyle Balda (The Lorax) and Pierre Coffin (Despicable Me) are attached to co-direct.

I’m not sure how you get a whole film out of these little guys without making them talk… and that seems like kind of a cop out.
