The weekly box office results are in and Disney is on top with nothing less than a hand animated film! Who would of thought in the age of Pixar that a movie like “The Princess and the Frog” would kick everyone else’s butt in ticket sales. The Disney musical blew away the competition with an even $25 million in its opening weekend.
Coming in a strong #2 is the Sandra Bullock inspirational football movie, “The Blind Side.” The film took in over $15 million for the weekend and over $150 million since opening four weeks ago. That is quite possibly more than the complete take of the last four Sandra Bullock movies combined.
In third place is the Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon movie about Nelson Mandela and a Rugby player called “Invictus.” The film, which is directed by Clint Eastwood brought in just over $9 million on the weekend, knocking Twilight’s “New Moon” to fourth place with just $8 million.
Rounding out the top five was Jim Carrey’s “Christmas Carol” which landed just shy of $7 million for the weekend.
