I haven’t always been a big fan of Ricky Gervais, but between “An Idiot Abroad” and “Derek”, he’s really won me over. For most people, those two series were Netflix discoveries, so it only makes sense that now the actor/comedian is pushing a film through the streaming service. While I can’t say that it will be a hit, I can say that just the trailer on loop for 90 minutes is better than sitting through Adam Sandler’s first Netflix outing, The Ridiculous Six.
In the film, Special Correspondents, which also stars Eric Bana, the two play a radio reporter and sound engineer who fake going to a war zone and fabricate their broadcasts from an apartment in NYC. When a reporter in the war zone is unable to locate them, they are reported missing in action and then have to go down to the actual war zone so they don’t get caught as being the frauds they actually are.
