Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters threequel is barreling towards a July 10, 2020 release date and casting has already begun. We don’t know how many (if any) of the original Ghostbusters are going to be appearing in the film, but we are starting to get a picture of some of the rest of the cast.
Multiple sources are now reporting that Sony Pictures is now in talks with Stranger Things/ It star Finn Wolfhard and Leftovers/ Gone Girl star Carrie Coons to play a single mother and her son in the film. We don’t know anything else beyond that, but it’s a good guess that Coons will be the ex-wife or widow of one of the original Ghostbusters with Wolfhard as the heir to the busting throne.
The good news is that these are both solid gets when it comes to talent. As long as Reitman’s script is up to par and Sony is willing to put what is needed into the production budget, we are up for a film that might just be deserving of being added to the franchise.
