As if James Cameron didn’t have enough on his plate with the next 12 sequels to Avatar, he’s now spilled the beans on his hopes to possibly reboot the Terminator Franchise with a brand-new trilogy. Granted, this isn’t the first time that a new trilogy was planned for the Terminator franchise, but we all remember Genisys… no matter how hard we try to forget.
In a new interview with. News.com.au, the filmmaker opened up a little bit about his hopes:
“The question is — has the franchise run its course or can it be freshened up? So I am in discussions with David Ellison, who is the current rights holder globally for the Terminator franchise and the rights in the US market revert to me under US copyright law in a year and a half, so he and I are talking about what we can do. Right now we are leaning toward doing a three-film arc and reinventing it.”
