Jason Mamoa is no stranger to DC comics films. He just appeared as Aquaman in several DCEU films. Once that universe was shelved, it looked like Mamoa’s DC days were done, but Deadline is now reporting that he’s back as Lobo.
It’s long been reported that Lobo was Mamoa’s favorite character from when he read comics as a kid, and fan casting has had him in the role for a couple of years now, but it wasn’t official until today.
According to Deadline, Mamoa is set to make his DCU debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
“I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,’” said the actor. Momoa went on to say that should DC come around asking him to play Lobo, it would be “a f*ck yeah.” Alongside the Instagram screenshot, Momoa posted a caption this morning that reads, “They called.”
