We’ve seen so many lackluster films based around Arthurian legend in recent years, it’s weird to think that the most promising looking one might be about kids. Yet, that’s exactly what Attack the Block director, Joe Cornish seems to have in store for us. In The Kid Who Would Be King, a boy (Louis Ashbourne Serkis – yes, he is Andy Serkis’ son.) in modern England finds Excalibur and must work with Merlin (Patrick Stewart) to save the world from Morgana (Rebecca Ferguson) in less than a week. This feels like the kind of movie we would have killed for when we were kids.
Old school magic meets the modern world in the epic adventure THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING. Alex (Ashbourne Serkis) thinks he’s just another nobody, until he stumbles upon the mythical Sword in the Stone, Excalibur. Now, he must unite his friends and enemies into a band of knights and, together with the legendary wizard Merlin (Patrick Stewart), take on the wicked enchantress Morgana (Rebecca Ferguson). With the future at stake, Alex must become the great leader he never dreamed he could be.
