I love Disney. I love Beauty and the Beast. I even really like Emma Watson. Wow, do I hate everything about this movie, so far. Creating a nearly shot for shot remake of an animated classic in live action feels like a money grab more than anything else. The CGI for characters like Cogsworth and Lumiere are so based in realism that they lose all the charm of their animated characters. Then, there’s the singing. I’ve only heard a small sample of it, but Watson’s voice sounds severely overproduced.
I just don’t see why this movie needs to happen. Then again, this is pretty much how I’ve felt about all the live action remakes, save for Pete’s Dragon which was at least different enough to stand on it’s own.
Now, he’s the new spot with all the new footage, most of which will look very familiar to you.
