We are just hours away from the premier of Netflix’s season 2 of Luke Cage, but we don’t know anything about what’s happening with his ex-girlfriend, and bad ass hero in her own right, Jessica Jones. Thankfully, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg talked to THR about just what we can expect from Jones in the future, including the upcoming Defenders series that will bring her together with Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and possibly even The Punisher. While she wasn’t willing to give up any story details, the showrunner was happy to talk about the collaboration that’s going on behind the scenes to ensure that the fans get exactly what they want.
“This wouldn’t work if anyone other than them was in charge (Defenders showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie). The whole thing has been incredibly collaborative. They’ve also been really respectful to all the other showrunners who have invented these characters and have grown attached to these characters. They invited commentary, they invited ideas, they enjoy collaboration. That’s the only way this works. It doesn’t work if they keep it all to themselves and are possessive.”
