David Yost is one of the original Blue Rangers, and by all accounts, he had a rough go of it on the set where he suffered a lot of harassment for being gay. Despite the negative experience, Yost has always been close with the franchise’s fans and it has always been a treat to see him return.
Now, Yost is set to return for at least ten episodes in season thirty of Power Ranges: Cosmic Fury. This time around, he’ll be taking on more of a mentor role for the team, but you can see from the opening credits that have been released, he will be suiting up in his Blue Ranger uniform.
Here’s what Cosmic Fury executive producer Simon Bennett told EW about Billy’s return.
“We felt it would be a meaningful landmark for fans to have David return to the show in a significant role, playing a mentor and on a personal level, it was a thrill to be working with the O.G. Blue Ranger. David’s calm and positive spirit kept us all grounded and reminded us of the Ranger legacy we were striving to do justice to.”
If you’re wondering how this ties into “Once & Always,” it doesn’t. This cast addition was planned long-before that Netflix special was written, and is completely separate from it.
