SDCC 2011: First Look At ‘Ringer’ With Sarah Michelle Gellar

Recently we showed you the new SDCC posters for The CW’s upcoming mystery “Ringers” with Sarah Michelle Gellar, today we have some panel update as well as your first look at the show.

Gellar, Nestor Carbonell, Ioan Gruffudd, Kristoffer Polaha and series creators Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder all made appearances at the panel to field questions and to unveil the first trailer.

From what I gathered, the show is a mystery. But it’s a mystery set in the real world. Snyder and Charmelo both agreed that all questions will be answered and there will not be any supernatural elements to it. Instead the show will remain heavily based on noir with darker thematic plotlines and shady characters. Think of it as a Who’d Done It type storyline.

Geller will play two characters on the show, Bridget and her twin sister Siobhan. There will be “flashbacks” of their younger self as well as moments where Bridget pretends to be Siobhan. It will probably be very confusing, but this should make any Gellar fan sequel with delight. Plus, I have full confidence in her acting ability to pull this off flawlessly.

The tone of the series is said to be more serialized, meaning it’ll probably be something like “Lost” where you can’t just skip a few episodes or decide to jump in midseason. This was one of the reasons why CBS had passed on the series. But The CW saw it as an opportunity. Gellar also humorously added that the change allows her to wear hipper clothing because The CW is marketed towards a younger demographic.

“Ringer” premieres Tuesday, September 13th at 9PM. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think? Will you be watching?
