The Muppets are coming back to Disney+ with a new series putting the spotlight on Doctor Teeth and The Electric Mayhem. The new series follows the band as they work towards completing the one thing they haven’t done in 45 years of making music… record an album.
We are cautiously optimistic when it comes to The Muppets themselves and the cameos of different performers ranging from Kevin Smith to Tommy Lee, Deadmaus, and even Weird Al. With that said, the human cast of Lilly Singh and Tahj Mowry feel like they may be a drag on the action… and we’ve only just seen this trailer. The fact that Disney+ is dropping all 10, thirty-minute episodes on May 10th is not a great sign either. Disney generally releases new shows in a weekly format.
The Muppets succeed most when it’s about The Muppets and not about the humans that have been added to help drive the plot along. We have our fingers crossed, but other than the Haunted Mansion special, the Disney+ Muppet Bar hasn’t set us up for great expectations.
