COVID-19 is the gift that keeps giving… kicks to the nuts of the cinema industry. It’s now been announced that both Top Gun: Maverick and Mission Impossible: 7 have both been pushed back again due to Covid-based delays.
According to the report from THR, Top Gun: Maverick is moving from Nov. 19 to May 27, 2022 and Mission: Impossible 7 is jumping from May 27, 2022 and landing on Sept. 30, 2022. In related news, Jackass Forever, has been pushed back from Oct. 22, 2021 Feb. 4, 2022.
The pushback isn’t because of production delays on set. In fact, Tom Cruise even went viral a few months ago for chewing out some of his crew who were putting their covid-bubble in jeopardy. The big concern is the Delta variant and other rising variants. Paramount just has no interest in releasing a movie in the big screen until they know that people can come see it, or at least until they feel safe enough to.
