When we last saw Maggie and Negan in the finale of The Walking Dead, the two had achieved a level of peace but were not going to be hugging any time soon. So the big question we had when it was announced that their characters were getting a team-up spin-off, is how the hell does that happen?
Well, the synopsis for the show has been released and it looks like a big part of what might be making it possible is the old adage that Time Heals All Wounds. Among other details about the types of foes they will be going up against, and the fact that they appear to be in NYC to track down a murderer, It also reveals that there will be a significant time jump between the end of The Walking Dead and the events of Dead City.
“Years have passed since we last saw Maggie and Negan and they must now form a tenuous alliance in order to accomplish a dangerous mission. Maggie and Negan journey to the island of Manhattan, which, having been isolated since the beginning of the walker apocalypse, has developed its own unique threats.”
“While in the city, Maggie and Negan encounter native New Yorkers, evade a marshal with a troubled past, and hunt down a notorious killer. But as the pair moves deeper into the gritty depths of the walker-infested city, it becomes apparent that the traumas of their tumultuous past may prove just as great a threat as the dangers of the present.”
The Walking Dead: Dead City stars Lauren Cohan as Maggie, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong, Željko Ivanek as The Croat, Jonathan Higginbotham as Tommaso, Mahina Napoleon as Ginny, Trey Santiago-Hudson as Jano, and Karine Ortiz as Amaia.
