THR is reporting that not only are they actually making a movie based off the old boardgame Battleship, but they may have locked in a top tier director to handle the project.
Peter Berg is now actively in talks to direct the Battleship movie. They are promising an epic naval action adventure.
Now let’s just recap how Universal and Hasbro are sexually assaulting the games of our youth.
Universal has several board game titles in development as part of its six-year deal with Hasbro. “Ouija Board” is being produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes shingle, “Candy Land” has Kevin Lima attached to direct with Etan Cohen writing the script, and Ridley Scott is developing a project based on “Monopoly.”
What I don’t get is why they need to call it battleship. Why can’t they just make a great naval adventure and let it stand on its own?
