Directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates” stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Ian McShane, who will play Edward Teach, a.k.a. Blackbeard the Pirate, Penelope Cruz as Blackbeard’s daughter, “Sparrow’s foil and equal in many ways”, and French Actress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, who will play a beautiful young mermaid named Syrena. Stephen Graham (Public Enemies Gangs of New York, Band of Brothers, Snatch) will be “Scrum, a Machiavellian pirate,” who’ll be “a sidekick to Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow.”
“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” is set for a May 2011 released.

In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love–or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth.
