Lionsgate, the studio behind “The Hunger Games” movie adaptation wants to make sure that if the first movie is a hit, nothing will get in their way of building a new franchise. Most everyone had expected there to be one film per book, but there are only three books… and four movies being planned.

Just to be on the safe side, Lionsgate has already signed contracts with Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson and many other cast members to wrap them up now for the full series.

It is thought that The Hunger Games movies will follow the Harry Potter model of splitting the final chapter into two films. People who have read the book say that Mockingjay, the final chapter can easily fill two whole movies.

Just remember, this is all a bit of a hypothetical right now. if the movie tanks, there won’t be any sequels. Percy Jackson anyone?
