Here’s an amazing Super Mario Bros. 3 stop-motion video created by Ryan. The clip is animated via 300 hand-manipulated frames of material (paper, colored pencils, glue, and cardboard). It was created as a part of his final project for his “Art and Alternative Media” classic at Boston College.

Here’s what Ryan had to say about his project:
“Using graph paper I recreated the pixel data 1:1 with the different colored pencils and then cut out each “sprite” after gluing it to cardboard for stability. The coloring and cutting out took a long time, but shooting the frames and putting together the video probably in total took about 36 hours.”
