It seems like just a couple of days ago, the internet was going nutty over new production shots of Benedict Cumberbatch in full Doctor Strange costume during the filming of his new Marvel film (and of course the image of him walking into a comic book store and buying a Doctor Strange comic book while still in costume didn’t hurt either). Still, even though the man is probably exhausted from the physicality that comes with making a Marvel Super Hero film, he’s already back at work in the UK, filming the 4th season of Sherlock with his co-star, Martin Freeman.
With production underway, Steven Moffat released a statement that teases the new season and hints that it might be the last, or at least second to last series where we’ll see this dynamic duo together.
“Sherlock series four — here we go again! Whatever else we do, wherever we all go, all roads lead back to Baker Street, and it always feels like coming home. Ghosts of the past are rising in the lives of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson and terror and tragedy are looming. This is the story we’ve been telling from the beginning and it’s about to reach its climax.”
No release date has been set as of yet for the new season of Sherlock, but you can probably expect it to air late fall or early winter in the UK. As to whether they’ll delay the BBC America airing of the show as they’ve done in the past is anyone’s guess.
