Just when you thought you already knew about all the great films set to come out in 2018, along comes this… OK, I get that all movies can’t be great, but the idea of a movie where parents are running around on prom night with the sole intent of preventing their kids from getting laid is just kind of creepy. I can sort of understand how Ike Barinholtz ended up in this film, but what the hell is Leslie Mann doing here? Even seeing John Cena heading down this path is a little confusing.
Hey, you never know, this could turn out to be one of greatest satirical movies of this generation. I mean, who would have expected a movie about a kid playing hooky from school to become one of the most defining teen comedies of the 80’s? We’ll find out if it becomes iconic or forgettable when it hits theaters on April 6th.
When three parents discover their daughters’ pact to lose their virginity at prom, they launch a covert one-night operation to stop the teens from sealing the deal. Leslie Mann (The Other Woman, This Is 40), Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors, Suicide Squad) and John Cena (Trainwreck, Sisters) star in Blockers, the directorial debut of Kay Cannon (writer of the Pitch Perfect series).
