Earlier today, news hit that the DC Streaming Universe series Swamp Thing could be at risk. A major upset on set has stopped production of the new series after only 10 episodes were completed. According to Playlist, the series will now no longer make it to its 13 episode series order and the 10th episode will be rewritten and reshot to provide an ending to the current storyline.
The reasons for this big change is unclear. It could be that the show sucks and the studio wants to get out with as little damage as possible. It could also be that the budget is running so far over that the show has run out of money. There’s a good chance that we’ll never know the answer and an even better chance that Swamp Thing will only get one season.
Interestingly, just hours after the news broke of the drama on the set, we now have our first teaser for the series. It doesn’t really tell us much, other than the series is set to premiere on May 31st, but it does finally give us our first look at the newest live-action version of Swamp Thing.
Swamp Thing is executive produced by James Wan and stars Andy Bean, Crystal Reed, Virginia Madsen, Jennifer Beals, Will Patton, Derek Mears, Ian Ziering, Henderson Wade, and Kevin Durand.
SWAMP THING follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.
