Rhys Ifans who plays Dr. Curt Connors in Marc Webb’s upcoming “The Amazing Spider-Man” was cited for a misdemeanor battery yesterday for allegedly pushing a female security guard before being announced on stage and officially confirmed as the main villain in the new film.
Whether staged or as a result the Welsh actor was not introduced until the second half of the panel presentation and appeared drunk during the presentation.
According to San Diego Police Lt. Andra Brown he was trying to enter the Hall H where the panel was held but when one of his entourage could not get in, he shoved the guard.
“He was aggressive and belligerent.”
Ifans not be deported or anything, but he will be fined or have to appear to contest his case before a judge.
He was upset apparently because “the U.S.sucks and he doesn’t want to come back.”
Sony Pictures which produces Spider-Man said in a statement, “It was a minor incident involving a security guard and smoking backstage. Police were called. But I was told Rhys was not arrested and was not handcuffed by the police. I am told he was given a ticket.”
