Bettie Page, 1950s Pinup Star Hospitalized After Heart Attack

The notorious Bettie Page, made famous as a pinup star in the 1950s with raven-haired bangs was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack.

Now at 85, Page is reported to be “critically ill” and has been hospitalized for the last three weeks with pneumonia before suffering her heart attack Tuesday.

Currently she remains in intensive care and is said to be in a coma.

Page, a secretary turned model, is often credited and acknowledged “with helping set the stage for the sexual revolution of the rebellious 1960s. She attracted national attention with magazine photographs of her sensuous figure that were tacked up on walls across the country.”

Page faded away from the public spotlight and into obscurity in the 1960s, becoming a born again Christian. But her fame resurged during the 1980s with a strong cult following, and to this day is perceived by many as one of America’s greatest sex/pop icon.
