I still remember my first hurricane from when I was a kid. It was back when I lived outside of Boston and Hurricane Gloria was heading our way. I remember the TV talking about evacuations, so I packed up all my favorite toys in a box and dragged them to my mom and told her I was ready to go. We didn’t end up evacuating, in fact, we ended up having some fun with the storm once the power and plumbing went out. I got to go outside to pee in the middle of the hurricane… Thankfully, it was with the wind. I’m pretty sure I hit my mom’s car… 30 feet away.
Anyways, the point is, hurricanes can be scary, especially for kids. To help keep them calm and let them know that everything would be OK, Sesame Street’s Elmo made an appearance on a radio talk show to let them know that everything would be ok.
Now that we know Elmo will make appearances for this kind of an event, I wonder what sort of message he’ll have for the kids when things like nuclear war and the inevitable zombie outbreak happen?
