BioPop is a small company who was working on creating a new form of sustainable light that didn’t rely on batteries to keep things bright. One of their attempts involved a bioluminescent plankton called dinoflagellates. Unfortunately, it wasn’t practical for lighting… but it was just practical enough for a cool desk toy.
To get the dino pet to light up, you just have to keep it fed and shake it like a misbehaving baby. They’ll be available for purchase next month for $60, which might cost more than sea monkeys, but is a hell of a lot cooler.
