Roger Ebert On ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’ Being Censored

If you haven’t heard about the controversy surrounding the replacement of the N-word with “slave” in the newest edition of Mark Twain’s classic “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” now you have. Here’s what Chicago Sun Times renowned critic Roger Ebert had to say about this matter.

From his twitter:

Roger Ebert who is married to Charlie “Chaz” Hammel-Smith, an African-American, has since apologized and censored himself for this tweet after being bombarded by criticism. Of course, it still doesn’t change the fact that he disapproves of the censorship in the new edition of the classic American novel.

The new version, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn,” is set to be released next month.
