You can do some pretty amazing things with sugar, but I’ve never seen anyone turn it into creations as beautiful and lifelike as Shinri Tezuka. It’s all part of a traditional candymaking craft called Amezaiku. Believe it or not, Shinri has to mold each piece of candy by hand, holding 90 degree Celsius sugar against his fingertips, working against the clock as the sugar cools and hardens. The result could be anything from a fish to a lion, but it’s always beautiful.
