Stunning Portraits of Indigenous Brazilians Projected onto The Amazon Rainforest

Yes, there’s a message that goes along with this story. Honestly, that’s not why I’m posting it. You can check out the message or not, I just think these images a kind of breathtaking.

The inspiration behind this art is the sad fact that the Amazon Rainforest is being decimated. In fact, over 20% of it has been destroyed in just the last 40 years. To help raise awareness, French photographer Philippe Echaroux created what he calls “The Crying Forest,” by projecting portraits of members of Brazil’s native Suruí tribe directly on to the canopy of the rainforest.

the photos were taken in early 2016, after the tribe’s chief invited Echaroux to the village. Now, photos of the projections of those portraits are on display at the Taglialatella gallery in Paris from November 10th through December 15th, 2016. Sadly, I can’t imagine they would be anywhere near as moving as it would be to see the images projected directly onto the Amazon.
