Super Fan Remembered With Star Wars Themed Funeral

We’ve shown you more than enough Star Wars weddings over the last few years, but this might be the first time we’ve ever had a chance to show you a Star Wars funeral.

Gordon Deacon, 58, had been a fan of Star Wars since A New Hope hit the big screen in 1977. Last month, Deacon, from Cardiff, passed away after a battle with both pancreatic and liver cancer.

About his love of Star Wars, his wife, Marilyn said: “He was mad on Star Wars. We went to see the first film in 1977 and ever since then he was fixated with it. We used to go to shows and he had a signed photograph of bounty hunter Boba Fett on the wall. He had Star Wars lightsabers, figurines, cookie jars, the lot.”

In regards to his last request for his memorial, his wife said :
“My husband didn’t want people to wear black, his wish was to have a different funeral. People can either wear Star Wars costumes, but not Darth Vader.”

Deacon’s body was was brought to the church in Cardiff, Wales, by horse drawn coffin with Storm Troopers leading the funeral procession.
