‘Avatar 2’ Not Starting Filming Until This Fall According To Sigourney Weaver

When Disney started building their Pandora Theme Park in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, they thought it would take less time to film the movie than design and build one of their largest new attractions. Now, Pandora is getting ready to open later this month and Avatar 2 is set to begin filming sometime this fall. This puts Disney in an interesting position. According to several reports, there are actually story elements for the film in the new park. Does this mean that each ticket should come with a spoiler warning?

Sigourney Weaver gave reporters an update on the filming schedule for the film at a press screening of “The Assignment.”

We’re starting!” the actress excitedly told The Hollywood Reporter at a screening of The Assignment, held Monday night at New York City’s Whitby Hotel. “We’re starting training, and we’re starting — hmm, I probably can’t say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall.”

What this means for the film’s release, who knows? AS it stands right now, we know that Cameron is either filming the next four sequels back to back or concurrently. Either way, I’d be shocked if we see an Avatar film before the tail end of 2019.
