12k People Sign Petition To Shut Down RottenTomatoes Over Suicide Squad Reviews

This may be the stupidest thing I’ve seen in a while, and that’s really saying something. Yesterday, we posted an article on the horrendous reviews coming out ahead of this week’s release of Suicide Squad. You can see that HERE. As with all movies, you can see the majority of main stream movie reviews on RottenTomatoes.com. The site also takes those reviews and produces an average score for the film. When I wrote yesterday’s article, it was at 34%. It is currently at 33%. As you may recall, the curated average review score of the last Warner Bros/ DC film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice wasn’t that great either. As it currently stands, it appears that BVS has a reviewer score of 27% and a fan score of 65%.

Noticing that the review scores for these films is very low, one angry DC fan took it upon himself to cry foul and call for the complete and total shutdown of RottenTomatoes.com through a petition at Change.org. Amazingly, this piece of ridiculousness has now garnered 12,501 signatures. Here’s what it says:

We need this site to be shut down because It’s Critics always give The DC Extended Universe movies unjust Bad Reviews, Like
1- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 2016
2- Suicide Squad 2016

and that Affects people’s opinion even if it’s a really great movies.

Yup. That’s the whole petition. Actually, I added the period at the end of the sentence for them. Now, here’s why this is stupid in two simple reasons.

1. Rottentomatoes does not make the reviews. Publications submit their reviews for curation and then RT creates an average score.

2. This is the big one. Warner Bros has an ownership stake in Fandango, who owns RottenTomatoes. Do you really think the studio would allow a site to exist if all it did was unfairly trash movies they’ve spent hundreds of millions of dollars to produce?

What really amazes me is that no one has started a petition to force better judgement over the DC movie productions over at Warner Bros.

You can check the lunacy HERE.
