A Quiet Place surprised audiences last year as John Krasinski created one of the most engaging and thrilling horror films in the last several years. Now, Emily Blunt is back to carry on the story in a sequel that hopes to capture the lightning in a jar that the first movie managed to do.
This time around, it looks like we’ll be moving into an expanding world. With the knowledge gained in the first film about the monsters’ weakness, Blunt and her children are still alive and trying to stay that way. The question becomes, what dangers are out there besides the giant creatures.
The idea that we might be worse than the actual monsters isn’t a new one, but it’s one that has definitely been used effectively in The Walking Dead, movies like The Mist, and dozens of other examples through pop culture and literary history. The first film was good enough to warrant giving the sequel a chance. We won’t know if it is worth it till the film hits theaters on March 20th.
Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
