ABC announced during the Television Critics Association press tour that they have renewed a handful of their Wednesday night freshman comedies.
Originally taking a huge gamble by launching four all-new comedies in a two-hour block on Wednesday nights, the move seems to have paid off as every show but “Hank” have performed admirably and will return.
The largest breakout hit is “Modern Family,” starring Ed O’Neil as the head of a diverse and dysfunctional family.
Meanwhile, ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson admits that a decision has yet to be made for the fate of “Scrubs,” “Ugly Betty” and “Better Off Ted.”
“I’m not going to lie,” conceded McPherson. “The numbers are not encouraging.”
In the meantime, enjoy “Modern Family, “The Middle,” and “Cougar Town” for yet another season.
