Actor Feud Could Keep Dwayne Johnson From ‘Fast & Furious 9’

While many fans credit Dwayne Johnson with revitalizing the Fast and Furious franchise, it’s widely known that an on-set feud between the Rock and franchise star Vin Diesel has created a fairly toxic environment around the license. The subject was broached in a new interview between Johnson and Rolling Stone.

One thing that pretty much everyone noticed in the last FF film was that Diesel and Johnson never appeared in any scenes together. When asked about it, this is what The Rock had to say:

“Vin and I had a few discussions, including an important face-to-face in my trailer, and what I came to realize is that we have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach moviemaking and collaborating. It took me some time, but I’m grateful for that clarity. Whether we work together again or not.”

So what does this mean for upcoming films in the franchise? According to Johnson, his future in the world of Fast and Furious is anything but certain.

“I’m not quite sure. Right now I’m concentrating on making the spinoff [Hobbs and Shaw] as good as it can be, but I wish him all the best, and I harbor no ill will there, just because of the clarity we have…Actually, you can erase that last part about ‘no ill will.’ We’ll just keep it with the clarity.”
