Tim Burton is developing a new Addam’s Family tv series based around Wednesday with Smallville and Into The Badlands creators Al Gough and Miles Millar. According to a new report from THR, Catherine Zeta-Jones has now been cast as the matriarch of the Addams’ Clan, Morticia Addams. Fans had been hoping to cast Christina Ricci, the actress who originally played Wednesday in the Addams’ Family movies, but it looks like she might have just been too young for the role.
Here’s how THR describes the new show:
“a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”
Zeta-Jones joins a cast that already includes Jenna Ortega as Wednesday and Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams’. No word on casting for Pugsley or Fester.
