The other day, we posted about what a bad idea we thought it was to cast Alec Baldwin as “Donald Trumplike” version of Thomas Wayne in the upcoming Joaquin Phoenix Joker film from Warner Bros. Apparently the movie Gods were listening because it looks like Baldwin has just exited the picture.
According to USA Today, Baldwin is bailing on the film due to scheduling issues. Before Alec, the studio had been talking to Viggo Mortensen about taking on the role. There is no current word on who will be taking over, but we hope that Thomas Wayne will not, in fact, be styled after Donald Trump. The last thing fans need is to turn the film into an internet argument over politics.
