Andy Lee: Traditional Cha’an Buddhist Splash + Pop Culture

Andy Lee is an amazing Hong Kong artist who blends traditional Cha’an Buddhist splash style which originated in China, circa 13th century B.C with pop culture, namely comic book superheroes. The result? Pure unadulterated awesomeness. From his page:

“To paint in this way is to wander into the artists’ own psyche. Any splash that is interpreted arguably reveals thoughts deeper with the artist, much like dreams are interpreted today. Rorscach Tests share similar methods of interpretation.”

Check out the mini gallery below, and make sure you hit up Lee’s site to see all his work including some comic book pages he had done for Marvel.
