It was announced not too long ago by director Rimur Bekmabetov that Angelina Jolie would be back for “Wanted 2.” Well it turns out, she has dropped out from the project causing Universal to temporary can the project.
Instead Jolie has her eyes set on “Gravity,” a space thriller from “Children of Men” director Alfonso Cuaron. Jolie would play “the sole surviving human member of a space mission, desperately trying to return home to Earth and her daughter.” From the sound of it, it seems like Tom Hank’s “Castaway” but in space, or the severely underrated indie summer hit “Moon” starring Sam Rockwell.
Whatever the case, “Gravity” sounds like an interesting film, made only better with Jolie on board. While “Children of Men” was successful in its acclaims, it ultimately came up short in the box office. Hopefully with Jolie’s star power now in the mix (assuming she doesn’t drop out), it’ll help propel “Gravity” to whatever box office success it deserves.
