Forget about all the Snow White remakes that are coming out next year, Angelina Jolie has lined up a Sleeping Beauty reboot as her next film. She may still be a mainstay int he tabloids, but Jolie hasn’t actually appeared in a live action movie for almost two years when The Tourist was released. She’s been spending her time with her family and behind the camera. Right now, she’s in Berlin promoting her directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey. While there, she was asked by THR what she’ll be doing next and this is what she had to say:
“I haven’t acted in two years, and I haven’t done anything else since this [Land of Blood and Honey]. The next thing I am looking at is a Disney movie,” said the actress.”
The Disney movie she’s talking about is Maleficent a retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty, but from the evil Queen’s perspective.
Visual effects artist Robert Stromberg will direct, replacing Tim Burton who dropped out last month. Stromberg could potentially be a great change as he’s worked on films such as “Pan’s Labyrinth” and “Alice in Wonderland.” I’ve always been impressed with his visual work and I hope he can make the transition to a storyteller.
