Chef and Travel Channel star Anthony Bourdain, who’s best known for his best-selling novel “Kitchen Confidential” and show “Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations” is set to cook up his first graphic novel through DC Comics’ mature imprint, Vertigo.
Robot 6 reports that Bourdain recently revealed an interview that he is writing a story titled, “Get Gyro.” The story is described as a graphic novel about “ultra-violent food nerds”.
“It’s a gourmet slaughter-fest, sort of like ‘Fistful of Dollars’ meets ‘Eat Drink Man Woman.'”
Not short of words, Bourdain also pitched it as, “‘Yojimbo’ meets ‘Big Night’ and ‘Babette’s Feast’, an ultra-violent slaughter-fest over culinary arcana.'”
No illustrator was mentioned and the project seems to be in its infancy. But regardless, this sounds like it has the potential to be awesome or an epic fail. Personally as a huge fan of Bourdain and Vertigo titles, I’m hoping it’s a hit.
