Aubrey Plaza Goes Nuts In ‘Ingrid Goes West’ Trailer

If her roles on Parks and Rec, Legion, or as the voice of Grumpy Cat haven’t already made you a fan of Aubrey Plaza, then there might be something wrong with you. The red band trailer for her new film, ‘Ingrid Goes West’ hit the internet today and, between this and Legion, Plaza has the uncanny ability to play “crazy” almost a little too well.

In the movie, Plaza plays Ingrid, a lonely woman who is having trouble getting over the loss of her mother and has developed an unhealthy fixation on Instagram Celebrity Taylor Sloane (played by Elizabeth Olsen). Reviews from screenings at Sundance have the movie pegged as a seriously dark comedy that could carry the same kind of cult following as Heathers.

Along with Plaza and Olsen, the film also stars Wyatt Russell, Billy Magnussen, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. Ingrid Goes West opens in theaters on August 4th.

Following the death of her mother and a series of self-inflicted setbacks, young Ingrid Thorburn (Aubrey Plaza) escapes a humdrum existence by moving out West to befriend her Instagram obsession and LA socialite Taylor Sloane (Elizabeth Olsen). After a quick bond is forged between these unlikeliest of friends, the façade begins to crack in both women’s lives — with comically malicious results.
