If you’ve been in middle school in the US, than there’s a good chance that you’ve read the book: “A Wrinkle in Time.” Now, Disney is set to turn the film into a movie and they’ve just announced that Ava DuVernay would be the woman helming the flick.
The Selma director had initially started talks with Disney about the possibility of directing Marvel’s Black Panther, but they decided to part ways over the level of control the studio wanted over the production. The incident didn’t sour her feelings on the company as a whole as she’s now back with the house of mouse to direct the film adaptation of the Classic 1963 Madeline L’Engle novel.
The original book was the first in a series of tales about a young girl “whose government scientist father goes missing after working on a mysterious project. The subsequent search for her father takes her to alternate dimensions where she crosses paths with a variety of different creatures.”
You can bet that there are big hopes tied up in the film as the potential launch of a new Young adult franchise.
