The rumors were true after all! Tonight after the second showing of the amazing “Thor” trailer, Marvel officially announced the full cast of “The Avengers.” Fans who were actually able to make it into Hall H were shown an “Avengers” teaser that revealed the iconic “Avengers” logo. Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury provided a chilling voice over explaining the formation of the world’s greatest superhero team.
Nothing was shown but the official logo, but after the lights returned, Jackson was introduced and he walked out to a rousing standing ovation from the audience. He announced that he’d be bringing out his team such as Shield Agent Coulsen (Clark Gregg). Fans were not expecting much after that but then he announced the Black Widow and Scarlet Johansson walks out and the crowd goes insane again. In the end he brought out Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.)
Downey Jr. then took over as emcee, saying that this is the most ambitious movie he’s ever seen, even more so than Christopher Nolan’s “Inception.” Downey Jr. then introduced other members such as Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and the new Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), who received mixed responses. By now the crowd is going absolutely insane and everyone is standing and camera flashes are going off every second.
Once the entire cast was revealed Downey Jr. introduced Joss Whedon as their director. Again, the crowd goes off. A very humble Whedon tells the audience that this has been his dream all his life, in fact, his dreams weren’t ever this good. He is proud of his Avengers team, and in a typical self-deprecating, he tells everyone how he might blow it.
“The Avengers” will definitely be at SDCC next year and if for whatever reason it turns out to be only just half as good as this surprise reveal, we’d all be in for a treat.
The entire Avengers team then stood on stage together for an unforgettable photo opt.
