After several behind-the-scenes changes to the script and cast that at one point even had the film starring Amy Schumer, the first teaser for the Barbie Movie has just dropped. The film, directed by Greta Gerwig has an all-star cast led by Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken and featuring Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, and America Ferrera among others looks a little bit like a fever dream… and that is a great sign.
The first teaser only gives us a couple of seconds of footage from the actual film after parodying the opening to 2001: A Space Odyssey. It’s loud, it’s pink, and we’re hoping as smart a film as you’d expect from Gerwig and screenwriter Noah Baumbach.
There are currently no plot details on the film, but we are expecting a bigger trailer in the next month or so. Barbie is slated to hit theaters in the Summer of 2023.
