It’s been a rough couple of months for Henry Cavil. He’s out as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, a character he had been a long-time fan of through the books and games. And, just a month after being told that he’ll be coming back as Superman for WB, James Gunn and Peter Safran have decided to take the DC film universe in another direction. But there’s one love of Cavill’s that has never let him. down. For years he’s been playing and meticulously painting the miniatures for Warhammer 40k. He’s talked about it in several interviews and has posted some of the miniatures that he’s personally painted. Now it looks like His love for the tabletop game is paying off with a new series on Amazon Prime.
THR is reporting that Cavill is in the process of finalizing a deal to star in and produce a Warhammer series for the streaming network. The important news is that he’ll be producing along with starring. Several industry sources have reported that his reason for leaving The Witcher was that Netflix had strayed too far from the source material that he loved and it was no longer honoring the characters and the stories that got him interested in the role. As a producer, we’re expecting him to have a lot to say about the direction of a show based on a game that he’s been playing for years.
