The teaser trailer for Batman V Superman left many people less then awestruck. The visuals, while impressive, were also overproduced to the point that they looked more illustrated than real. The story, at least from the teaser, seemed unnecessarily dark and thrown together. Now, the official synopsis is out. Check it out and then I’ll weigh in.
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
Batman wanting to keep Superman in check is fine. It’s a comic story that’s been done well on several occasions. Here’s my problem based on what we know about the movie:
It appears that Batman finds a temporary ally in Lex Luthor. This is supposed to be an older and wiser Batman than previous films. No way the world’s greatest detective didn’t do his due diligence and find out Luthor is evil. Also, no way that Batman misses out on something like the creation of a being like Doomsday (who is said to be built by Luthor as a way to destroy Superman).
Also, It seems like a pretty full story with no room to bring in Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash. That only makes sense if they all have to step in when superman “dies” at the hands of Doomsday.
I’m just saying that I’m pretty skeptical.
Along with Cavil, Affleck, and Jesse Eisenberg, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Scoot McNairy, Jason Momoa, and Holly Hunter.
