BBC Planning Doctor Who Movie Special For 50th Anniversary

Doctor Who is set to return to the airwaves this month in the UK and then shortly thereafter (but not shortly enough) here in the US on BBCA. Now it is being announced that The BBC is planning a 90 minute TV movie to celebrate The Doctor’s 50th Anniversary. The name of the special is called “An Adventure in Time and Space” and will tell the origin of The Doctor.

There has been no word on which Doctor will be featured in the special or even how many of them will be featured. The original TV Doctor from 1963 was William Hartnell. What we do know is that it was written by Mark Gatiss, and will be produced by Steven Moffat and Caroline Skinner.

According to IMDB, here are the episodes of Doctor Who that Mark Gatiss has already written:

The Unquiet Dead (9 April 2005) – Writer (written by)

Victory of the Daleks (17 April 2010) – Writer (written by)
